Getting Started
Quick Start: Advocate Setup - Ambo Docs
Connect your LinkedIn account, browse approved content, and share your first post.
This guide covers the minimum steps to go from a new Ambo account to sharing your first post on LinkedIn. The whole process takes a few minutes.
Prerequisites
You must have access to your company email ID.
Step 1: Connect your LinkedIn account
Ambo needs access to your LinkedIn profile to publish posts on your behalf.
Go to Settings → LinkedIn and click Connect LinkedIn. You’ll be redirected to LinkedIn to authorize the connection. Once you approve, Ambo stores your access token and uses it when you share posts. Ambo securely encrypts and stores your access token so it remains protected, even in the unlikely event of a database breach, while enabling you to share posts seamlessly.
You must complete this step before you can share any content.
Step 2: Subscribe to channels
Channels are how your admin organizes content by topic, team, or audience. Subscribing to a channel means posts assigned to that channel will appear in your feed.
Go to Settings → Channels and select the channels relevant to your role. If you’re not sure which to pick, ask your admin how your organization uses channels.
Posts that aren’t assigned to any channel (broadcast posts) appear in your feed regardless of your channel subscriptions.
Step 3: Browse your content feed
Go to Posts to see content approved for sharing. Use the status filter to navigate:
| Status | What it shows |
|---|---|
| New | Posts you haven’t shared or scheduled yet |
| Scheduled | Posts you’ve queued for a future date |
| Shared | Posts you’ve already shared to LinkedIn |
| Pending Approval | Variations assigned directly to you that need your review before sharing |
Click any post to see the full content, attached media, and the variation your admin prepared.
Step 4: Share a post
Open a post and click Share.
- Share now: Ambo posts to your LinkedIn profile immediately.
- Schedule: pick a date and time. Ambo will post at the scheduled time automatically.
If your admin has enabled post overrides for that post, you can edit the content body, or swap the media before sharing. If overrides are not enabled, the content is fixed as written.
After sharing, the post moves to the Shared tab and Ambo starts tracking engagement from LinkedIn.
Step 5: Enable automated sharing (optional)
If you want Ambo to share content for you on a regular schedule without manual action each time, go to Settings → Automated Sharing and toggle it on.
You can use your organization’s default time slots or set your own preferred times. Ambo will pick an available post from your feed and share it at each scheduled time.
See Automated Sharing for details on how post selection works.
Notification preferences
Control when Ambo notifies you about new content under Settings → Notifications:
| Option | When you’re notified |
|---|---|
| Directly Assigned | Only when a post is assigned specifically to you |
| Channel Posts | When any post is published to your subscribed channels |
| All Posts | Every time any post is published in your organization |
