Managing Posts and Content - Ambo Docs

Create, manage, and publish posts in Ambo including content variations, targeting, go-live dates, and the approval workflow.

Posts are the content units advocates share on LinkedIn. Each post contains one or more variations: pre-written versions of the content targeted at different audiences. Admins create and publish posts; advocates browse and share them.

Creating a post

Go to Posts → New Post.

  1. Enter the URL of the article, page, or resource you want advocates to share.
  2. Click Generate Content to let Ambo suggest copy based on the URL. You can adjust the number of suggestions, the length, and the tone before generating.
  3. Review the suggestions and edit as needed, or write your own content from scratch.
  4. Add one or more variations (see below).
  5. Click Publish to make the post available.

Post variations

Each post has at least one variation. A variation is a specific version of the content paired with a share target that controls who sees it.

Variation fields

FieldDescription
ContentThe main post body. Rich text, supports formatting and mentions.
CommentAn optional first comment to be added to the LinkedIn post after sharing. Useful for URLs or additional context.
MediaOptional single image, image gallery, pdf document(converted to a carousel) or video attachments.
Share TargetWho this variation is distributed to (see below).
Allow Post OverridesWhen enabled, advocates can edit the content, comment, and media before sharing.
Needs ApprovalWhen enabled, the advocate must approve this variation before it can be shared. This option is available for Share Target: advocate.

Share target types

TypeWho receives it
ChannelAll advocates subscribed to the specified channels.
AdvocateA single specific advocate. To target multiple individuals, create one variation per advocate.
BroadcastAll advocates in the organization. No target selection required.

A single post can have multiple variations with different targets at the same time. For example, one variation can go to the Sales channel while another goes directly to a specific advocate, and a third broadcasts to everyone. You can create multiple variations for a single share target. The advocate can pick any variation to share.

Scheduling

  • Go Live date: the post becomes visible to advocates at this date and time. Leave blank to publish immediately.
  • Expiry date: the post is hidden from advocates after this date. Useful for time-sensitive content.

Post statuses

StatusMeaning
PublishedLive and visible to advocates based on their channel subscriptions and targeting.
ScheduledPost created with a go live date and will be hidden from advocates till then.
ExpiredPast its expiry date. No longer visible to advocates.

Approval workflow

If a variation has Needs Approval enabled, the targeted advocate sees the variation in their Pending Approval tab. They must approve it before it can be shared. The advocate needs to approve the variation before the scheduled share time if set, else the post wont be shared.

As an advocate, you they can approve or reject variations:

  • Approve: the variation moves to the advocate’s regular feed for sharing.
  • Reject: you must provide a rejection note explaining why. The admin is notified and the variation is marked as rejected. The admin can then edit it as per the rejection note and ask for approval again or publish it.

Admins are notified by email (and Slack, if connected) when a variation is approved or rejected.

Editing and deleting posts

To edit a published post, open it from the Posts list and update any field. Changes apply immediately.

To delete a post, open it and click Delete. Deletion is permanent and removes the post and all its variations. Any shares already made to LinkedIn are not affected.
