Importing Your Past LinkedIn Shares - Ambo Docs

Import your past LinkedIn shares into Ambo to track analytics for posts you made outside of Ambo.

Share import brings your past LinkedIn posts into Ambo so you can see their analytics alongside your Ambo shares. Ambo fetches impressions, reactions, comments, and clicks for each imported share.

This is useful if you were posting to LinkedIn before joining Ambo, or if you’ve shared posts directly on LinkedIn without going through Ambo.

How to import your past shares

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Under Import Past Shares, click Upload LinkedIn Shares CSV.
  3. Select your Shares.csv file.
  4. A list of your posts appears. All eligible posts are pre-selected.
  5. Deselect any posts you don’t want to import.
  6. Click Import.

Ambo imports the selected shares and starts fetching analytics in the background. A status indicator below the upload button shows progress. When finished, it shows Import complete with the number of shares imported.

Getting your LinkedIn archive

LinkedIn lets you export your account data, including all your past shares.

  1. Go to linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/download-my-data.

  2. Click Request new archive to request a complete data export.

LinkedIn Download my data page showing the Download archive and Request new archive buttons

  3. LinkedIn sends you an email when the archive is ready. This can take a few minutes to a few hours.

  4. Download the archive and unzip it.

  5. Find the Shares.csv file inside the unzipped folder and upload it to Ambo.

What gets imported

Ambo reads the date, share link, and post text from your Shares.csv. Posts without text content are skipped. Only shares from the past year are included, with a maximum of 100 shares per import.

You can deselect individual posts in the review step if you only want to import a subset.

Analytics after import

Once the import completes, Ambo fetches LinkedIn engagement data for each share. The analytics appear in your Analytics view alongside your Ambo shares.

Note: Your LinkedIn account must be connected to Ambo for analytics to be retrieved. If you upload the CSV before connecting, Ambo will warn you and analytics will not be fetched. Connect your account in Settings → Social Account first, then re-import. See Advocate Settings for details on connecting your LinkedIn account.
