Comments on LinkedIn Posts - Ambo Docs

Write comments on LinkedIn posts found through social listening, and have advocates or your company pages post them on a schedule, with optional advocate approval.

Comments let you join conversations on LinkedIn posts written by other people and companies. You write a comment for one or more advocates or company pages, and Ambo posts it on LinkedIn on their behalf, right away or at a scheduled time.

Comments are enabled per organization by Ambo. If you don’t see Comments in the sidebar, contact Ambo support to turn it on.

Creating a comment

You start a comment from a post found through social listening.

  1. Go to Inspiration Hub and open the LinkedIn tab.
  2. Find the post you want to comment on and click Comment.
  3. The Create Comment page opens. The original LinkedIn post is shown on the left for reference.
  4. Click Select advocate or company page and choose Advocate or Company Page.
  5. Write the comment in the text box.
  6. Set when it should be posted and whether it needs approval. See the sections below.
  7. To have more people comment on the same post, click Add Comment and repeat steps 4 to 6.
  8. Click Save.

Each advocate or company page can comment once per post. Anyone already selected is left out of the list for the next comment.

Writing the comment

  • Comments can be up to 1,250 characters. The counter in the editor shows how many you have left.
  • Use the @ mention button to tag people or companies. See Post Text Formatting.
  • Use the emoji picker to add emoji.

Write each comment so it sounds like the person or page posting it. Add a point of view or something they know from their own work, rather than a generic reply. When several advocates comment on the same post, give each one a different comment so the replies don’t look copied.

Choosing who comments

OptionWho posts the commentRequirement
AdvocateThe advocate, from their own LinkedIn accountThe advocate has connected their LinkedIn account in Ambo
Company PageYour company pageThe admin who added the page has connected their LinkedIn account

If the requirement isn’t met, Ambo shows an error when you save. To add company pages, see LinkedIn Company and Showcase Pages.

Scheduling

Use the Comment at picker to choose when the comment is posted.

  • Comment Immediately posts the comment as soon as you save.
  • A date and time posts the comment at that time. The time must be in the future.

Approval

For advocate comments, turn on the Approval switch to have the advocate review the comment before it is posted.

  • A comment that needs approval must have a scheduled time. When you turn on Approval, Ambo sets the time to one day from now. You can change it.
  • The advocate is notified by email and gets a reminder while the comment waits.
  • If the advocate approves, the comment is posted at the scheduled time.
  • If the advocate rejects it, or doesn’t respond before the scheduled time, the comment is marked Rejected and is not posted.

Company page comments can’t require approval.

Comment statuses

Go to Comments in the sidebar. Comments are grouped into tabs by status, with a count on each tab.

StatusMeaning
ScheduledWaiting for its scheduled time, or approved by the advocate
Pending approvalWaiting for the advocate to approve or reject
PostingBeing posted to LinkedIn now
CommentedPosted on LinkedIn
FailedLinkedIn didn’t accept the comment. The error message is shown on the comment
RejectedRejected by the advocate, or not approved in time. Any rejection notes are shown on the comment

Click a comment card to open and edit it.

Editing and deleting comments

You can edit a comment while it is Scheduled, Pending approval, or Rejected. Once it is Posting or Commented, the text can’t be changed.

To send a rejected comment again:

  1. Open the comment and read the Rejection Notes.
  2. Update the text, and set a new scheduled time if the old one has passed.
  3. Click Save. The comment goes back to the advocate for approval, or is scheduled.

If you edit an approved comment and change the text, the advocate, or the time, it goes back to Pending approval.

To delete:

  • One advocate’s or page’s comment: open the comment and click the trash icon next to it.
  • The whole comment: click the menu on its card in Comments and choose Delete.

Deleting a comment that is already posted also removes it from LinkedIn. A comment can’t be deleted while it is Posting.

What advocates see

Advocates have a Comments page in their sidebar. It lists every comment written for them, with the original post, the comment text, its status, and the scheduled or posted time.

When a comment needs their approval, they click Approve or Reject. When rejecting, they can add notes explaining what to change. Advocates also get an email when a comment is scheduled on their behalf.
