Social Listening for Inspiration - Ambo Docs

Track LinkedIn posts by keyword and company, read a daily AI summary of what competitors and your industry are posting, and turn what you find into posts for advocates.

Social listening collects LinkedIn posts that match keywords you choose, or that come from companies you track and their employees. Ambo shows these posts in the Inspiration Hub, along with a daily AI summary and post ideas. You can turn any post or idea into a draft for your advocates.

Turning on social listening

Social listening is enabled per organization by Ambo. If you don’t see a LinkedIn tab in Inspiration Hub or a Social Listening section in Settings, contact Ambo support to turn it on.

Choosing what to track

Go to Settings and find the Social Listening section. Any admin can change these settings.

Keywords

  1. Type a word or phrase in the Keywords field.
  2. Press Enter to add it. You can also paste a list.
  3. Click Update.

Ambo searches LinkedIn for recent posts that match each keyword.

LinkedIn companies

  1. Paste a LinkedIn company page URL into the LinkedIn Companies field, for example linkedin.com/company/google.
  2. Wait while Ambo looks up the company. Its logo and name appear as a tag.
  3. Click Update.

For each company, Ambo collects posts from the company page and posts from its employees. This is useful for following competitors, partners, or customers.

Ambo looks up companies using your connected LinkedIn account. If yours isn’t connected, it uses the account of an admin who added a company page to Ambo. If the lookup fails, you’ll see an error and the company is not added.

To stop tracking a keyword or company, click the x on its tag and click Update.

When posts are collected

EventWhat happens
Once a dayAmbo collects LinkedIn posts from the last 24 hours for every keyword and company, then writes a daily summary
You add a keyword or companyAmbo runs a search for the new items right away and updates today’s summary
WeeklyAdmins receive an email with a recap of the week and post ideas

A post found by both a keyword and a company is only shown once. LinkedIn polls are skipped.

Browsing the LinkedIn tab

Go to Inspiration Hub and open the LinkedIn tab. Posts appear newest first. The Feed tab shows drafts created from your RSS feeds.

Each post card shows:

  • The author’s name and photo
  • The date it was posted
  • The post text, with Read More for longer posts
  • An image, if the post has one
  • The number of likes
  • A link icon that opens the original post on LinkedIn

Click a card to preview the full post, including any video or document. Click Load More at the bottom of the page to see older posts.

LinkedIn image links expire after a while. When an image can no longer load, Ambo hides it from the card.

Daily summary

Each day’s posts are headed by a Daily summary card. Ambo’s AI reads the posts collected that day and writes:

SectionContents
What competitors are up toActivity from the companies you track
What people are talking aboutTopics that came up across your keywords
Post ideasSuggested topics for your own posts, each with a title and an angle

Post ideas take your organization’s Brand Voice setting into account. See Organization Settings to set it.

Rewriting with AI

Edit & Post fills in another author’s words. Rewrite them so the post reflects your organization’s view before you publish. The AI content generator can do the first pass.

  1. In the post editor, click Write with AI.
  2. Under Source, choose Content. The text from the LinkedIn post or post idea is used as the input.
  3. In Additional Instructions, describe your own context. For example: “Rewrite this from the point of view of a cybersecurity vendor for mid-size banks. Mention how our customers handle this problem.”
  4. Pick a Writing Style, Length, and Number of Options.
  5. Click Generate Options, then choose the option you want to use.

The generator also applies your organization’s Brand Voice. Review and edit the result, add media, choose a share target, and publish as you would any other post. See Managing Posts and Content.

Weekly email digest

Every Monday, admins receive an email titled Your post ideas for the week. It includes:

  • A short recap of what competitors and your industry posted that week
  • A list of post ideas drawn from the week’s daily summaries
  • An Open Inspiration Hub button that goes straight to the LinkedIn tab

The email is only sent if at least one daily summary was created in the past 7 days.

Notes

  • Only posts from the last 24 hours are collected on each run. Ambo does not backfill older posts when you add a new keyword or company.
  • If you have no keywords or companies saved, nothing is collected.
  • Removing a keyword or company stops future collection. Posts already collected stay in the LinkedIn tab.
